SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A group including former Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson is demanding that a pair of resolutions questioning the science behind climate change be withdrawn.
The group gathered inside the Capitol on Wednesday.
House Joint Resolution 12 urges the Environmental Protection Agency not to regulate carbon dioxide as part of an effort to address climate change.
House Joint Resolution 21 calls on Gov. Gary Herbert to pull out of the Western Climate Initiative, an alliance of several Western states and Canadian provinces working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Rep. Michael Noel, a Republican from Kanab, is sponsoring HJR 21. Noel calls some proposals to regulate climate change "draconian."
