Proper attic ventilation removes moisture and heat from the attic, which is critical to avoid damaging condensation and to help lower cooling costs. Therefore, every home that is built must have vents to perform this important function.
Bob Stott owned a successful construction and siding company for 15 years. During that time, he became frustrated with the limited selection of gable vents available. Eventually, he began producing custom gable vents for his siding company. From his own experience, he could identify a great need for these items, so in 2008, he started American Louver and Vent Company to produce the gable vents full-time.
Logan-based American Louver and Vent Company manufactures custom and standard-size aluminum gable end vents for residential and commercial applications. While Bob says the triangle vent is by far the most popular, the company offers vents in any shape or size and in more than 60 colors. They can be used with any exterior finish including siding, Hardie Plank, stucco, rock and brick.
Even though construction has slowed dramatically in the last year in light of the current economic situation, Bob says his company hasn't been affected. His company is the only one he knows of in the country to produce the customized vents. It serves an important niche that no one else in the market is addressing so business continues to march forward. In fact, business has gone so well that in May 2009, the company moved into a brand new larger facility in Logan.
Bob anticipates growing his business throughout the United States and Canada. Although the company serves the light commercial sector, the residential market is its largest. Many home owners today want unique touches on their home and custom gable vents such as the ones American Louver and Vent Company produces are the perfect solution.
