FARMINGTON, Utah (AP) -- West Bountiful police have arrested a man in the alleged sexual abuse of one girl and he is suspected in several other cases.

Vance Gordon Green, 44, is charged with five counts of rape of a child, five counts of sexual abuse of a child and four counts of sodomy upon a child involving a girl, now 14, who allegedly was molested between 2001 and 2003.

Green was arrested at work Tuesday night and during police interviews allegedly confessed to the acts against that girl and others.

Police Chief Mike Wright said he suspects there are still more victims.

"I won't be surprised if cases start coming out of the woodwork," Wright said.

Police are investigating the other cases mentioned by Green and past complaints against the man that previously could not be substantiated. One of those incidents involved a group of Girl Scouts.

The 14-year-old girl had twice been interviewed by police after her mother expressed suspicion that assaults had taken place, Wright said.

The girl did not disclose the assaults, apparently because she had been threatened, he said.

Green appeared Wednesday in 2nd District Court, where public defender Tony Miles was appointed to represent him. A roll-call hearing was set for Sept. 2.
