ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) -- About $30,000 in appliances have been stolen in the past 45 days from homes under construction, police said.

Dishwashers, refrigerators, garbage disposals, microwaves and a Jacuzzi tub were among the items stolen.

At one home, the appliances had not even been taken out of their boxes.

Detective Richard Triplett asked residents living near homes under construction to be on the lookout for suspicious activity.

"It's just not normal to bring appliances out of a newly constructed house," Triplett said.

The homes mostly are being broken into late at night through back and side doors. No vandalism to the homes has been reported.
