Amanda Butterfield reporting A man is in jail this morning for killing another man during a fight.

Suspect Jailed for Killing Man With Coffee Mug

Police say last evening around 5:30 pm, Paul Madill was in the apartment with his girlfriend when Clint Barber came to the door.

The two started fighting, and Madill hit the man with a ceramic mug. A sharp piece of the mug sliced Barbers neck, hitting his jugular.

Capt. Gary Cox, West Jordan Police Dept.: "After the victim fell down, succumbed to his wounds, the suspect left the scene."

When police arrived, it was a chaotic and bloody scene at 7050 S. 1300 West. Several witnesses had blood all over them from trying to help the victim. Barber ended up bleeding to death.

Madill initially ran away but he came back to the apartment. Police arrested him there.

Suspect Jailed for Killing Man With Coffee Mug

Madill is now being held at the Salt Lake County Adult Detention Center, and has been charged with second degree manslaughter and obstruction of justice.
