SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A co-sponsor of a citizens ethics initiative is now turning his attention to trying to get the state to let Utah voters recall their elected officials.
Wayne Crawford contends that just because state law doesn't allow for voter recalls, it doesn't mean they're not permissible under the Utah Constitution.
He's soliciting names of elected officials voters might want to recall. Eventually, he hopes to submit a petition to the lieutenant governor's office asking that an office holder's election be decertified.
Crawford says he expects that petition to be denied and says he'll challenge it in court.
The lieutenant governor's office says there is no mechanism in place to recall an elected official outside of regular elections.
