(KSL News) -- Salt Lake Police arrested a couple of suspected drug users tonight. The bicycle officers were on patrol looking for drug activity in the area of Pioneer Park and the homeless shelter, and it didn't take long until they found some.

Sgt. Don Cole, Salt Lake City Police Dept.: “We observed some people smoking a crack pipe. Two people went over and stopped both of them. The one guy was very cooperative, the other guy stood up and as soon as he stood up he took off running. Two of the officers chased him and caught him over here at the gateway."
One of the suspects was cut while climbing over a barbed wire fence.
The officers say the mobility they have on bikes really helps them stay on top of drug problems in the area.
