SALT LAKE CITY (KSL News Services) -- How much money have you spent on back to school clothes and how confident are you that the clothes you purchased meet the school dress code?

Granite School District Spokesperson Randy Ripplinger says most school districts have a general policy, then each school can add what they want as a dress code. He reminds everyone that students should dress to learn. “We do take an interest in whether or not this clothing is clean, safe, if it’s modest and not disruptive to the education environment. Other than that, we don’t get very specific.”

He says school is for learning, not a fashion show. “We would like students to be able to focus on education, focus on learning, and do those sorts of things rather than worrying about what they’re wearing compared to what someone else is wearing.”

School begins for several school districts beginning next week.
