TOOELE COUNTY -- The family of a woman killed in a terrible car crash says this is the second major tragedy to hit their family, but like before, they will survive.
Kristi Westfall, also known as Kristi Newingham, was killed Jan. 28 when her car went across four lanes and an 18-wheeler smashed into it on State Road 36 in Tooele County. Her 21-year-old boyfriend, Jacob Herrera, and their 9-month-old son, Damian, were also killed in the crash.
"They are gone, but as I said, by the grace of God I'll get through this," says Jodi Dasher, Kristi's mother. "It's by the grace of God I will see them again."
Dasher says Kristi's father and brother were murdered nearly 20 years ago. Dasher says it gives them comfort to know Kristi is with them again.
"While my daughter is gone, my daughter is happy and my grandson is happy because they are with their grandpa and her dad," Dasher says. "He is with his uncle and she is with her brother."
Kristi's brother Saun Newingham says he will remember her for the way she treated his own children.
"The thing about my sister, she loved my two kids so much," he says. "She loved my son and daughter so much."
Investigators are still trying to figure out what caused the car to veer into oncoming traffic.
At this point, investigators say it doesn't appear alcohol or drugs were involved in the accident. They say none of the victims was wearing a seat belt.
