SALT LAKE CITY -- The rough economy of 2009 didn't hold back state politicians from raising millions of dollars for their campaigns.

According to The Salt Lake Tribune, political parties and committee reported nearly $7.5 million, while state-level offices, including governor and attorney general, raised more than $3 million.

Donors gave nearly $1 million to Utah legislative office holders, with Senate President Michael Waddoups raking in the most at more than $79,000.

The Utah Association of Realtors was the top campaign donor in the state, giving nearly $148,000 last year.
