SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The number of people using food stamps in Utah continues to rise.
The state Department of Workforce Services reports that nearly 100,000 households in Utah now rely on government aid to feed their families.
That's up from 96,516 in December. The number has grown 82 percent compared with December 2007.
Some regions of the state have seen greater leaps in food stamp use over the last two years.
In Salt Lake County, the number of households has nearly doubled from 22,548 in 2007 to 42,103 in 2009.
Food stamps provide a certain amount of funds for food depending on the number of people in a household and their income.
