RIVERDALE -- The Riverdale City Council is almost ready to allow prayers before council meetings, but prayers may not be the only offerings.
City Councilman Alan Arnold hopes Riverdale's diverse population will participate if they allow citizens a brief period of time to pray before the meeting starts.
"It's not technically about prayer; it's about bringing the community together, whether it be through prayer, through thought," Arnold says.
He says they would not discriminate who could say the prayer or thought, but the council is still discussing how much time will be taken time and what would happen if someone starts ranting.
"If they choose to do that, it would be inappropriate. But that's OK. I mean, we're not gonna condone it," Arnold says.
The councilman just hopes it doesn't get out of hand, since there is a time in the meeting to complain.
