SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Sally Ann Reynolds Krivanek has been charged with first-degree felony murder in the slaying of her ex-boyfriend's girlfriend.

Krivanek, 28, was charged Wednesday in the Dec. 1 death of Kellie Nelson, a Taylorsville woman whose body was found burning on a pile of trash.

The motive "appears to be jealousy at this time, but a lot more facts are going to come out" and unanswered questions about the case remain, said Kent Morgan, spokesman for the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office.

Krivanek also was charged with abuse or desecration of a dead human body, a third-degree felony.

Krivanek's DNA was matched to that found on cigarette butts detectives found a block from Nelson's home, according to the charges.

The butts were found after authorities received a report of a woman, dressed in dark clothing with a hood pulled up over her head, pacing back and forth and smoking in the area about 5:10 a.m. on Dec. 1.

Police believe that was minutes before Nelson was abducted or willingly went with her killer.

A cause of death still has not been released, but medical examiners believe Nelson was killed before her body was ignited.

The charges state the homicide occurred at the same location where the body was found.

The day after Nelson's body was found, a woman called a Salt Lake County Sheriff's detective saying she had knowledge about the homicide and giving him information that indicated she was involved.

When the detective contacted Krivanek later following further investigation, he recognized her voice and asked her if she made the phone calls, but Krivanek denied it, documents say.

Sheriff Aaron Kennard has said Krivanek was the anonymous tipster.

Krivanek, who apparently has no criminal history, ended a seven-year marriage earlier this year, according to court records.

She and her ex-husband shared custody of their two sons, ages 5 and 4. The children are now with their father, Kennard said last week.
