(Salt Lake City, KSL News) -- Utah County authorities have identified the man killed in this weekend's cannon explosion near Saratoga Springs.

Twenty-nine-year-old Stuart Bodell was killed Saturday after a relative set off a homemade cannon.

When the cannon exploded it sent shrapnel flying through the air.

A piece of that metal hit Bodell, and he died at the scene.

The accident happened as about 10 people from two families were shooting skeet near Lake Mountain Estates.

The sheriff's department has not issued any citations, but is still investigating.
