(Salt Lake City, KSL News) -- An accident that had traffic stopped both ways in Parley's Canyon for nearly three hours Friday has been cleared.

Travelers were prevented from traveling eastbound or westbound on I-80 in the canyon for several hours today, but the roads are now open.

About 11:30 a.m., a semi heading westbound on I-80 near the bottom of the canyon rolled into the center median, causing traffic delays in both directions.

Investigators say the truck driver probably took a curve too fast, causing him to hit the center barrier. The impact knocked out about 200 feet of the median, pushing it into eastbound traffic and blocking all eastbound lanes.

The truck was carrying beer, which spilled during the crash.
