(Salt Lake City, KSL News) -- Former University of Utah head football coach Ron McBride, fired late last year, says he's going to be an assistant coach at Kentucky.

McBride tells KSL News that he's accepted an offer to become a linebacker coach under Kentucky's new coach, Rich Brooks. McBride acknowledges that he and Brooks have known each other for years.

McBride hasn't coached defense since the late 1960s, and that was at the high school level.
