(Salt Lake City-AP) -- Former congressman Jim Hansen says he's forming a new lobbying and consulting firm.

The retired eleven-term Republican from Utah's First District has only been out of work for a few days, but he's already making plans to get back into national politics.

The Deseret News reported from its Washington bureau that Hansen plans to form the consulting firm with his son and a former aide.

Laws prohibit outgoing representative from directly lobbying Congress for one year after leaving office, so Hansen says his new venture will focus on political consulting at first.

Hansen said lobbying and consulting will give him the opportunity to be involved in political issues that he's already started to miss.
