(Salt Lake City, KSL News) -- Springville High School art students who took a trip to Las Vegas to view art exhibits received a warm welcome from the city's mayor.
Oscar Goodman greeted the students, as well as a few reporters and television crews. The media showed up due to the attention the field trip has drawn, following a decision by the Nebo School Board not to allow the journey because of the racy reputation of Las Vegas.
The group of about 100 students and their parents chartered a bus and went anyway.
They saw an exhibit of Faberge eggs at the Bellagio Hotel, and another art installment at the Venetian.
