SALT LAKE CITY -- The man accused in one of the most high-profile kidnapping cases ever is back in his cell after a trip to the hospital.
The U.S. Attorney's Office confirms Brian David Mitchell was checked into the University of Utah Medical Center Monday evening out of what they are calling "an abundance of caution."
The accused Elizabeth Smart kidnapper was admitted and kept overnight for observation before his release Tuesday morning back into the care of the U.S. Marshals.
The prosecutor's office wouldn't say what prompted the trip, only calling it a "minor medical condition."
