(Ogden-AP) -- Ogden Mayor Matthew Godfrey says he doesn't want to raise taxes, and some city workers will lose their jobs as a result.
Ogden expects its budget to fall short by as much as half-a-million dollars this year because of a drop in sales tax revenue.
The mayor says he plans to fire Public Works Director Jon Ruiz and that department will merge with another.
The manager of the arts, culture and events department, Chuck Keeler is losing his job too.
The city will contract with an outside company for events planning.
City Council members will review the proposal during the next few weeks in work sessions.
