(Salt Lake City-AP) -- Representative Chris Cannon has been named chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Commercial and Administrative Law.
It was the first time that the fourth-term congressman acquired enough seniority to head a House committee of any kind, the Deseret News reported today.
Cannon says some important legal reform legislation will come before the committee this year.
It also has jurisdiction over such issues as interstate commerce and compacts, administrative law and commercial law.
Cannon was also elected today as the new chairman of the House Western Caucus.
