(Farmington-AP) -- A former Davis County corrections officer pleaded guilty to charges of using the Internet to solicit sex with a child.

David Michael Vance of Layton entered guilty pleas yesterday to the two felony counts.

Vance was arrested in September by members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force for being involved in an Internet chat room where he solicited what he thought to be a 13-year-old boy to meet and have sex in the parking lot of a Layton Church.

He was arrested when he approached two undercover officers posing as boys in the church lot.

Vance resigned from the sheriff's department shortly after the incident.

He will be sentenced on March 17th, and could get up to five years.
