SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- An extensive power outage left more than 10,000 homes and businesses in central Utah without power for nearly an hour Tuesday morning.
The outage darkened Utah Power's Spanish Fork substation, said Kimball Hansen spokesman for Utah Power.
Hansen said the power was out in most of Utah County, as well as northern parts of Juab and Sanpete counties beginning at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. Power was restored by 11:48 a.m., he said.
Utah Power crews are investigating the Spanish Fork substation trying to determine the cause of the outage.
Hansen said preliminary thoughts were that it may have been weather related.
"When the weather is bad we usually have some outages. They're usually not that extensive," he said.
Small snowstorms moved through northern Utah Tuesday morning.
