(Logan-AP) -- A fisherman whose boat capsized in a near gale on Bear Lake is believed to have drowned.

Forty-nine year-old Robert Israelsen spent a lot of time fishing on the big lake along the Utah-Idaho border, but he didn't return home as expected Monday.

Rescue crews found his 14-foot aluminum boat and some of his gear in the lake. But so far there's been no sign of Israelsen.

Emergency workers say winds were gusting to 40 miles per hour that day.

They've been searching with helicopters and a sonar-equipped boat, but have not found the man yet.
