(Salt Lake City-AP) -- A man who was convicted of attempted murder for trying to run over a West Jordan police officer in a stolen car will spend up to 15 years in prison.

Thirty-eight-year-old Marty Lee Giles was sentenced Monday. He had earlier pleaded guilty to attempted murder and car theft.

On September 16th of last year, Giles stole a truck, led police on a chase and was trapped in a cul-de-sac, where he rammed a police cruiser. He then tried to run down the officer. He got away, but the next day an informant led officers to a home where he was arrested.
