(Salt Lake City- KSL TV) A standoff between a 21-year old man and police ended peacefully last night.

Yesterday afternoon the man and his mother got into an argument inside their home at 2715 Fort Union Blvd. He threatened to kill her and two others inside.

The mother called police, then she and the others got out of the home. But the man stayed inside with a weapon threatening to kill himself.

After more than five hours of trying to communicate with the man, A SWAT team entered the home and released tear gas into the room he was hiding in. They then entered the room, and after a brief struggle detained him.

He is now being treated for minor injuries and will later be booked into jail for aggravated assault.
