Stacey Butler reportingThe Utah serviceman killed during a training accident in Kuwait last month was honored today at Camp Williams.

A military salute for the first Utah casualty in the conflict with Iraq. 32 year old John Daren Smith's remains were laid to rest at Camp Williams, after his chopper went down in Kuwait during a training exercise.

Dozens of family and friends remembered the chief warrant officer for his charisma, humor, and patriotism.

Smith's widow Meredith said, "I talked to him the morning that the accident occured, and he was happy to be there, he wanted to be there, he believed in the cause and he just wanted to get in there and do something...and I'm sure he died with a smile on his face."

Smith leaves behind a wife and two daughters.
