LEHI -- Two girls are showing wisdom beyond their years by helping a friend in need. For that, we made an unexpected visit to their school this week to give them a KSL High 5.

Madison Taylor and Megan Mortensen are seventh-graders at Willow Creek Middle School in Lehi. They got called to the school office, which was a complete surprise. The girls looked shocked when they saw our KSL camera and a crowd of family and friends in the office.

A neighbor, Mindy Greene, nominated Madison and Megan after hearing about a Secret Santa project they spearheaded. The girls decided to collect and make Christmas presents for a friend's family after learning that family had fallen on tough times this holiday season.

There aren't very many girls this age who are so loving and considerate ... usually it's ‘all about me.'

Megan said, "She just told me that she wasn't going to have Christmas this year. I felt really bad because I enjoy Christmas so much."

Madison said, "I did some babysitting so I could earn money, and I bought yarn so I could make a scarf for everyone in their family."

"I just think it's amazing," Mindy Greene said, "because there aren't very many girls this age who are so loving and considerate and kind and thinking about other people. Usually it's ‘all about me.'"

Their gift giving is still a surprise -- the family that will receive the gifts does not know about it. The girls plan to deliver the presents on Christmas Day. They told us they hope the family feels cared for because, as these girls have demonstrated, they indeed are cared for.
