Kimberly Houk reportingA 21-year-old man from San Diego is in critical condition this morning after being shot down the street from Shaggy's Living Room Bar on State Street.
A fight broke out between several people at Shaggy's Bar just after 1:00 this morning.
Lt. Tim Doubt, Salt Lake City Police Dept.: "THE MALES INVOLVED IN THE ALTERCATION LEFT THE BAR. THE VICTIM OF THE SHOOTING WALKED DOWN THE SIDEWALK HERE, WHERE A VEHICLE INVOLVING THOSE MALES TURNED THE CORNER, AND SHOTS WERE FIRED. WE HAD OFFICERS HERE IN THE AREA WHO HEARD THE SHOTS AND WERE ON THE SCENE ALMOST IMMEDIATELY."
Officers chased the suspects, who were driving a red S-U-V. Officers stopped the vehicle at 3rd West and 5th South and arrested two suspects in the SUV.
Police recovered a gun near the crime scene, and detained several witnesses to the shooting. Those witnesses are being interviewed by police.
Officers are still trying to determine whether the shooting was drug or gang related.
Police say the victim was shot once, and is expected to recover.
