CEDAR CITY -- A Cedar City man is in jail, charged with severely shaking his 1-month-old child.
Police say a grandmother found the baby not breathing on Friday. Police say other injuries suggested shaken baby syndrome.
Andy Roy Gorecki, 25, was charged in 5th District Court with child abuse, a second-degree felony.
The child was flown to Primary Children's Medical Center in critical condition, where he remains on life support.
Goreckie is currently in the Iron County Jail.
Goreckie has a criminal record. In 2006, he was convicted of felony forcible sex abuse, and in 2007 he was convicted of failing to register as a sex offender.
