(KSL-TV) A 3-year-old girl is in the hospital this morning after being attacked by a pit bull in Liberty Park.
Police say the dog was on a leash at the time, but the owner was unable to stop the attack.
The little girl was sitting with her family in a picnic area in the park when the dog apparently became agitated by other animals in the area.
Lt. Dana Orgill/SLPD: "PEOPLE HAVE TO BE AWARE, EVEN WHEN THEY ARE ON A LEASH."
The girl received severe facial injuries. She was taken to Primary Children's Hospital. The owner of the pit bull has been cited by Animal Control.
