(Salt Lake City-AP) -- A man who shot his estranged wife, her friend, then himself had asked a judge last week to restrain his wife from bothering him during their divorce proceedings.
Air Force Staff Sergeant Steven Leroy Richardson had filed for divorce April 21st, citing irreconcilable differences.
Richardson asked 2nd District Judge Thomas Kay to allow him to remain in his home, and that wife Shawnti Richardson be --quote-- "restrained from bothering, annoying, harassing, or contacting me at my residence or employment."
But police say that Richardson forced his way into the apartment of Airman 1st Class Brian M. Washington, 20, Sunday morning. Richardson fatally shot Washington, injured Shawnti Richardson, then shot himself in the head.
Shawnti Richardson was in critical condition at University Hospital yesterday.
