Sandra Yi reporting Two car jacking suspects are now behind bars after leading police on a wild high speed chase from Salt Lake City to West Valley.

The chase also ended with the patrol car wrecked and pinned against a fence.

Two troopers were going into this Denny's early this morning for a bite to eat when they spotted a stolen car speeding by them. That car would lead them on a seven minute high speed chase.

The highway patrol dash cam showed how fast the suspects were going on city streets. At times - the white car was going 100 miles an hour. On the I-15 on-ramp at 900 South, troopers clock its speed at 90.

Trooper: "WE'RE AT 33RD SOUTH. THEY APPEAR TO BE TAKING 33RD SOUTH."

The car headed west, at a high speed.

Then near Redwood Road, the driver slowed down.

Trooper: "APPROACHING REDWOOD ROAD. THEY JUST TRIED TO MAKE ME HIT 'EM."

The chase continued north on Redwood Road.

The suspects' car slowed down again, crossed the yellow line, then turned left at 2495 South. That's when the patrol car was able to get close to the suspects' car, and nudge it out of control.

Trooper: "SALT LAKE, THEY JUST COLLIDED WITH MY VEHICLE. MY RIGHT TIRE IS GOING, MY LEFT TIRE IS GOING. THEY'RE GOING TO BAIL ON FOOT HERE. 10-12, 10-12."

The driver was seen trying to get out of the car, but gets back in. When the patrol car slams into a fence, all three suspects take off on foot.

Moments later, police dogs caught Steven Florang and Trenton Bernhardt. But a female suspect got away. All are suspects in a car jacking yesterday afternoon and an attempted car jacking early this morning.

The two troopers were not hurt. Neither were the two carjacking victims. The first car jacking happened yesterday afternoon downtown, and that car was the one the suspects were driving.

The second car jacking, also downtown, was botched after the car's driver took his keys. The suspects did smash in his car windows with a sledgehammer.high speed chase.
