(Salt Lake City-AP) -- Fleming Companies will close warehouses in Utah and four other states.

The closures at Salt Lake City and in Arizona, North Carolina, Maryland and Pennsylvania will affect about 800 employees, or nearly seven percent of the Texas-based grocery distributor's work force. Among them will be 125 workers in Salt Lake City.

A Fleming distribution facility in Salt Lake City that caters to convenience stores will remain open. A limited number of opportunities exist for some employees to transfer to that facility.

The company would not say whether any severance or outplacement benefits are available to laid-off workers, other than services offered by the state.
