(KSL News) -- The skier killed in an accident yesterday at Alta Ski Resort has been identified.

43 year old Charles Denwalt of Salt Lake City was backcountry skiing in the Albion Basin of the closed resort when he apparently slipped off a cliff.

He fell about 50 feet, headfirst, onto some rocks below.

Other skiers in the area tried to help and performed CPR, but Denwalt was pronounced dead at the scene.
