(KSL News) -- In central Ogden, a wanted man is trapped by police, and he says he has hostages.

Police were looking for Mario Satello, and intend to arrest him, they have a warrant for his arrest. He's a fugitive who ran away from the Northern Utah Community Corrections Center located in Ogden. He's been in and out of prison six times. He's also a suspect in an aggravated robbery-car-jacking where he's accused of pistol-whipping a victim.

Their search began this morning, and police found Satello about one this afternoon in an apartment building in the 26-hundred block of Orchard Avenue in Central Ogden, just east of downtown.

Police say they went to the apartment and exchanged words with Satello. Officers say he fired a shot at them and now claims he has hostages.

Police say they can't confirm whether he has hostages or not.

The surrounding neighborhood has been evacuated.

Police say it could be a long night. We have a crew on the scene and we'll keep you updated when the situation changes.
