(Coalville-AP) -- There will not be a new trial for the name convicted of killing two people and trying to blow up their bodies.
John Pinder, who was convicted of the crimes in 2000, has been in the Summit County Jail trying to convince a judge to give him a new trial.
But Fourth District Judge Lynn Davis refused that request earlier this week.
A sentence of 40 years to life now goes into effect.
The crime happened in 1998. Pinder and an accomplice, Filameno Valenchia Ruiz, shot and killed Rex Tanner and June Flood. They tried to blow up the bodies to hide the crime. Ruiz pleaded guilty and testified against Pinder.
