(KSL TV) A 21 year old man is accused of using an AK-47 assault rifle to shoot up an LDS church in Syracuse, Utah. Police say it wasn't any kind of a hate crime.
They say Gabrial Portilla admits to being intoxicated when he fired his AK-47 and a handgun at the church at 2500 S. Bluff Road.
At least a dozen rounds hit the brick wall and two large windows.
Damage is estimated at about $1,000. Both guns and a concealed weapons permit were taken from the man.
Portilla was cited for discharging a firearm and criminal mischief.
