OGDEN, Utah (AP) -- A 16-year-old boy has drowned at Pineview Reservoir while swimming with friends.

The body of the victim, whose name has been withheld pending notification of kin, has been recovered.

The group was swimming in the Quist Beach area about 6 p.m. Sunday when they floated about 50 feet from shore while holding onto a log, the Weber County sheriff's office said.

The victim and another boy started to swim back to shore. The victim was about halfway to shore and started to struggle in the water.

He called to another of the group on the log and then went under water.
