BRIGHAM CITY, Utah (AP) -- A 39-year-old man charged with bigamy and accused of taking a teenage girl as his plural wife has pleaded not guilty to seven felony counts.
Gerald P. Roskelley made the plea and waived his right to a preliminary hearing yesterday.
Prosecutors say Roskelley, who is married to another woman, entered into a "spiritual marriage" with a 16-year-old girl last spring.
Box Elder County Attorney Stephen Hadfield is saying little about the case, although he said yesterday that a plea agreement is possible.
Roskelley faces four first-degree felony charges of rape, two second-degree felony charges - child bigamy and forcible sexual abuse, and a third-degree felony charge of witness tampering.
Roskelley's attorney, Gary Gale, could not be reached for comment.
