(Cedar City-AP) -- Did you know that a Pacific tidal wave once washed a lost colony a Vikings ashore in Cedar City, Utah? Of course not. It never happened.
But in Cedar City, Mayor Gerald Sherratt will find any excuse for a party. He wants to enliven his city with year-round festivals to draw folks in.
The lost-Vikings story is his plan for the centerpiece of an April Fool's Day festival next year. He also wants a Christmastime holiday festival with parades celebrating children's stories.
Cedar City is already home to the award-winning Shakespearean Festival and the Utah Summer Games.
