KSL NewsFire crews are battling a large fire in Farmington Canyon tonight. Crews began fighting the blaze from the ground and by air after some residents called 911 and then even tried to contain the fire themselves.

Trent Preston, Farmington Resident: "We just ran up there and took our shovels and tried the best we could and the next thing you know, it was going up the side of the hill so we stopped and just watched."

So far it has burned more than 200 acres. Forest Service officials say their main concern is shifting winds pushing the fire down the mountain toward several homes located at the bottom of Farmington Canyon. But so far, no homes have been evacuated.

Officials say the fire was human-caused, but they are still investigating.
