Seven people are in custody in connection with a late night carjacking.
Investigators say around 11 o'clock last night a car was stolen at gunpoint.
This morning, a Utah Highway Patrol trooper with the stolen motor vehicles team spotted a car with its trunk popped in the parking lot of a Motel 6. He ran the license plates and found it was the stolen car.
Troopers also recovered the weapon used in the carjacking and the keys to the car.
