Flash waive former Ute Nevill; pick up three new players

Press releaseOREM -- The Utah Flash have acquired center Christopher Ayer, forward Darian Townes, and forward Jordan Brady. The trio will fill vacancies left by center Luke Nevill and guard Gavin Grant, who were waived earlier this week.

Luke Nevill, a local college star from the University of Utah played in the first two games for the Flash averaging 11.5 points and six rebounds for the Flash. Nevill was waived due to visa issues. An Australian native, Nevill is expected to return to the team as soon as the visa issues have been cleared up.

Grant, in his second year with the Utah Flash, was waived due to injury. Grant played in two games for the Flash averaging 17 points and three rebounds in both contests.

A Tucson, Arizona native, Ayer has played professionally in Japan and the IBL and is an NBA Development League rookie this season. Ayer has appeared in one game for the Flash and will wear number 00. Ayer started for four years at Loyola Marymount and was top-ten all time in blocks per game, shooting percentage and rebounds per game.

Brady, a local high school and college player, for Uinta High School and Utah Valley University has played in three games for the Flash during their recent road trip averaging 10.3 points, six rebounds, and two assists. Brady was the NCAA Division I Defensive Player of the year on 2007-08 for UVU and had six double-doubles in his senior year. Brady will wear number 21 for the Flash.

Townes, a graduate of the University of Arkansas and former teammate of current Flash point guard Dontell Jefferson, and current Jazzman Ronnie Brewer will join the team after spending his summer with the Orland Magic in training camp. During his senior year at the University of Arkansas Townes averaged 12 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per game.

The Flash will host the Reno Bighorns in the Friday, Dec. 11. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the McKay Events Center.
