Sam Penrod ReportingA 15-year old Sandy girl is missing, believed to have run away with a 38-year old man. Tonight police are asking for help in getting the girl back home.
The girl has been missing since Friday, and now police say they have evidence she is with a 38-year old man. The girl was last seen at Valley High School in Sandy on Friday morning when her aunt dropped her off for summer classes. Even though police believe she went willingly with the suspect, they are calling this case a kidnapping.
Sandy police have put out a bulletin to police departments in several Western states to look for the girl. An AMBER alert is not being issued though because police say they have no evidence the girl is in imminent danger of being hurt, one of the requirements for issuing an AMBER alert.
