(Bountiful-AP) -- Some Bountiful residents want to create an historic district inside an earthen wall that was started in 1865 to defend the town against would-be attackers.
The 12-foot-high wall was a work project designed by church leader Brigham Young for early Mormons, but it never was finished. Today it appears as a circle of grassy knolls.
Now the wall is the focal point for a push to preserve some of Bountiful's history.
City councilman Tom Tolman is leading the effort to get things going.
Tolman and others have their eye on a rock barn built in 1860 that could double as a museum.
It's up for sale - but for a whopping 650-thousand dollars. Tolman plans to launch a fund-raising effort.
