Salt Lake County -- The Salt Lake Valley Health Department will offer a series of evening appointments for the H1N1 vaccination. They will be available on Wednesday and Thursday for individuals that fall into the CDC's priority groups.

Starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, evening appointments may be booked for Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

"We decided to offer a series of evening appointments this week to accommodate those who are unable to come to our clinics during regular business hours," said Dr. Audrey Stevenson, director of family health services. "We hope that providing evening appointments will better serve those in Salt Lake County who are at the highest risk of H1N1 infection."

Those eligible to receive the H1N1 vaccine:

  • Pregnant women
  • Those who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age
  • Health care or emergency medical personnel with direct patient contact
  • Children age 6 months to 24 years of age
  • Those under the age of 64 with chronic medical conditions associated with higher risk of medical problems from influenza

Appointments may be booked online at www.slvhealth.org or by calling 801-743-7280. Phone lines will remain open until noon, or until all available appointments have been booked.

The vaccine is provided at no out-of-pocket cost to individuals at SLVHD clinics; however, those with health insurance are encouraged to bring their card. Individuals without health insurance will still receive the vaccination at no cost.

Appointments will be book for the following SLVHD clinic locations:

South Main Public Health Center
3690 South Main Street
Salt Lake City

Ellis R. Shipp Public Health Center
4535 South 5600 West
West Valley City, Utah 84120
