(St. George-AP) -- Washington County was screaming for ice cream. And they got it.

County officials and business leaders toured the facility that produces Blue Bunny ice cream yesterday.

Well's Dairy opened up operations on July 29 and is the county's highest profile business.

County officials say the 55 (m) million dollar plant will generate 132 (m) million dollars for the local economy and bring four (m) million to the local tax base.

The company has two other plants in Le Mars, Iowa, where the company is based.

The dairy's chief operator says this new plant will help expand the company's reach to the western region.

Well's Dairy did 800 (m) million dollars in business last year and is the largest family owned and managed dairy processor in the U-S.
