WEST POINT, Utah (AP) -- West Point Junior High Principal Jane Muna has drawn the wrath of a number of students and parents by suggesting a ban on wearing football jerseys.

School administrators met for 1 1/2 hours Monday with more than 150 students, parents, coaches and community members.

Muna said a decision will be made by Wednesday on whether members of the Wasatch Football League again will be allowed to wear their football jerseys on Fridays.

Muna said she would rather have "a handful of students upset with her" if it means the whole student body is safe.

She said there were incidents of pushing, shoving and blocking other students in the hallways of the new school.

Muna told parents no matter what activity a group represents, they will not be allowed to intimidate other students.

Trevor Evans, an eighth-grader and member of a Syracuse football team, said he understands his principal"s concern, but he hopes the decision will be on the side of the jerseys. He and other team members met with their coach Monday after the meeting.

"Yeah, we agree to behave," said Evans.

Casey Hill, a ninth-grader, said, "The safety of the school is important. We (his team) agree as a whole to wear the jerseys with honor and not have a problem with anyone else wearing a different jersey."
