SANDY -- Coming together for a good cause, that's the goal of a group of Sandy seniors. Members of the Sandy Senior Citizens Center have worked all year, knitting hats, scarves, afghans, and mittens for people who are homeless in our state.
Irngard Jensen, alone, knitted some 320 pairs of slippers, sometimes completing three pairs a day!
"I don't know the people who get them, but I hope it keeps their feet warm," she said.
Irngard is not alone. All members of the center have knitted and crocheted, completing hundreds of items. Irngard says it's keeps them young.
"I think I prolong my life that way. I think it does something for you, you're wellbeing, your feelings," she said.
The group will donate all the items to the homeless in Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County, as well as baby items to the YWCA.
